April's UTV adventure was, to say the least, quite wet. This particular trip was a bachelor party weekend for 13 adventurers and 9 total UTVs.
We were aware before embarking on this trip that we would face wet weather (let's just refer to it as that), and we believed we were ready for whatever the skies might bring. Or so we believed.
By midday on our first day, the skies unleashed an enormous downpour. The rain was so intense that even with five layers of clothing, including two "waterproof" ones, we were drenched to the skin.
Because of the weather, we slightly altered our route and made our way to Wikiup, where the Chicago Hotdog eatery warmly welcomed our soaked riders. As it doubles as an RV park, there were ample washers and dryers available for us to dry our wet gear. We had lunch there and stayed for about 2 hours until the rain eased from a downpour to a light drizzle.
At first, we were hopeful about the weather for day 2, but we were mistaken. Our initial destination was Lake Mojave, where the wind roared and the water was rough. In Searchlight, NV, we faced freezing temperatures and snow. Once we reached the hotel in Havasu, our spirits were lifted, and we felt thankful that the weather had calmed.
On day 3 we visitied the remote Charley Brown's Cabin in the Turtle Mountain Wilderness. The surrounding area of the fallen down cabin was increadible with views as far as the eyes could see. The trails today were also fantasitc. Hard packed sand that allowed for a great pace kept us rolling all day long. We pulled into the Bluewater Casino in Laughlin for our last night of this UTV adventure.
On Day 4, we returned to the staging area in Wittmann. Despite encountering some unusual inclement weather on this trip, it only added to the adventure! At BeFree Off Road, we ride no matter the weather. So, be ready for whatever surprises mother nature might have in store!
